We are happy to invite you to the conference “At the crossroads between violence against women and elder abuse: solutions to protect older women survivors through multiagency cooperation”.

The conference is going to be held online on 1 March 2022, 09:30 – 13:00 (CET) and you can register at the following link: Registration | ONevents

Older women survivors of violence fall into the gap between two forms of violence: elder abuse and violence against women. For this reason, they face multiple challenges and their needs are often overlooked.

Older survivors require interventions by several institutional actors at once. However, there is no multi-institutional cooperation model specifically designed for older women affected by violence.

Over the last 2,5 years, the WAVE Network, together with five partners from four countries, worked on the MARVOW Project. This project brought together a wide range of stakeholders to identify the gaps that exist within the current system and that hinder their ability to adequately support older victims, with the aim of creating a model of multiagency cooperation that takes these specific needs into account. Moreover, it also includes the perspective of working with perpetrators, through a survivor-centered approach.

The final conference of the MARVOW Project wants to bring attention to this important topic and to hidden forms of violence against women. The aim is to analyse how the intersection of different forms of discrimination poses a threat for older women and to provide the participants with useful tools to recognise the gaps and improve the support to older women survivors of violence. You can find the agenda attached.
