Killing of women/Femicide

In the media, the killing of women is often still referred to as a "family drama" or "relationship crime" and thus played down. The German Press Agency dpa announced in November 2019 that it would refrain from using such terms in future. We need to talk about gender-based violence against women and the killing of women for what they really are: severe forms of patriarchal violence that all too often end fatally. Sensitive reporting that does not implicitly blame the women affected for what happened is important for society as a whole, as well as those affected and surviving family members.
